If so, measure these features accordingly and make sure to record all measurements taken in order for easy reference during installation later down the road! How To Replace RV Storage Locks – No More CH751 KeysĪirstream Storage Compartment Lock Won T Open Step 5: Determine if there are any additional features such as a keyhole that needs to be measured for compatibility purposes with other RV components like locksets, knob sets, etc. Make sure to record these measurements as well before. This will help you determine what type of fastener is needed to secure it in place when installing it in an RV compartment doorframe. Step 4: Locate any mounting holes on either side of the compartment lock and measure their distance apart using your ruler or measuring tape. Step 3: Measure the width of the compartment lock at its widest point using your ruler or measuring tape. Record this measurement in your notebook. Step 2: Measure the length of the compartment lock from its widest point with your ruler or measuring tape. Step 1: Gather the necessary tools for measuring, including a ruler or measuring tape and a paper or notebook to record measurements. Make sure that all measurements match up before purchasing a new lock so that it fits properly in your RV compartment door! Once you have all these measurements, you can use them to find an exact replacement for your current RV compartment lock online or at a local hardware store. Then, measure across each side of the latch and write down those measurements as well. Measure from the center of one mounting hole to the other using a ruler or measuring tape. Then tighten down the bolt and screw to complete the installation.To measure the RV compartment lock, you will need to first determine the size of your existing latch or lock. Make any adjustments to the latch and adjustment washer as needed. Use the key to test the position and motion of the latch to make sure it locks correctly. Use a screw driver to attach the screw to the end that holds the latch and adjustment washer in place. Be sure to position each in the same orientation as the one you removed. Place the adjusting washer and latch on to the end of the lock. Step 6: Attach the latch and adjusting washer.Thread the new nut on the back of the bolt and finger tighten it to secure the lock. If you ordered a lock cover, then that will need to be installed between the lock and the door as well. If your new lock comes with a rubber washer, be sure to place it between the lock and the door to prevent water from leaking in. Position the new lock in the hole and insert it from the front side of the cabinet door. Slide the lock out from the front of the compartment door. Use an adjustable wrench to unscrew the thin nut on the back holding the lock in place. Take note of the placement of the adjusting washer so you can position the new one correctly. Use a screw driver to remove the latch (cam) and adjusting washer from the back of the lock. After the first lock or two, the rest should only take a few minutes each. Repeat these steps for each CH751 lock you want to replace. Here’s a video that will tell you more about them.
